My Education Technology Philosophy
We live in a world where technology has evolved in such a significant way that people’s lives have become better and work has become easier. I believe that with the use of technology in the classroom, students’ interest in learning may be increased along with their level of participation and confidence to achieve their fullest potential. It is with this in mind that, as student teacher in training, I endeavor to understand and seek out different ways to incorporate more efficient educational technology in a classroom that can facilitate students at varying ability at any given time without discriminating or frustrating them. Technology has a lot of benefits for the teacher, the school and the classroom: students’ data can be collected easily; decision making can be improved, improved students’ achievement and collaboration
Technology in education (educational technology) is most simply and comfortably defined as an array of tools that might prove helpful in advancing students’ learning and may be measured in how and why individuals behave. Therefore educational technology was developed with the intention of improving education. Different devices are incorporated to make education technology a reality. Devices such as mobile phones and computers (of all types) are used to make learning more accessible, specific and flexible with a variety of content to ensure holistic development.Educational technology if used appropriately and efficiently is the way forward for the educational system.
New advances in technology are constantly changing the way we work, play, interact, teach, and learn. Teachers should make sure that students have the knowledge, interest, and ability to function in a technology dominated world. Students need to be creative problem solvers, innovative thinkers, and able to adapt to change. Teachers need to prepare students for a technology dominated future- a future where without this knowledge they may not be prepared to compete for future jobs.
Technology has become a part of the human experience. Technology is integrated into every part of our lives. It plays a prominent role in our homes, our shopping experiences, our health care systems, our transportation, and the only place it seems to be lacking is in our classrooms. We cannot continue to teach children in the same antiquated ways and expect children to be engaged with pencil and paper and lecture when they are bombarded with exciting programming and gaming in their personal lives. It is my goal to inform, enlighten, teach, and demystify the use of technology in the classroom so that teachers can make learning interesting and engaging for today's learners.
